Day to Day Relief Teaching

What is EDForce?

EDForce is the most efficient system for relief teachers to get work. EDForce uses text messages, emails and the website, it is not a telephone system.

How it Works

Institutes place vacancies on the website through either their computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone, they can also phone EDForce's Call Centre from 6.00am. The vacancies will be sent instantly to the institutes 'Preferred Relief Teachers' through text messages and a ringing sound on the website.

Preferred Lists

Institutes can add up to 20 relief teachers to their 'Preferred List'. 'Preferred Relief Teachers' will get priority over the 'Other Relief Teachers' and they will receive text message notifications on their mobile phones. Any vacancies not accepted by the 'Preferred Relief Teachers' will be sent to the 'Other EDForce Teachers' through emails and a ringing sound on their computers, in the priority order listed below. The ringing sound will save you from having to look at your computer. Those relief teachers who have their computer on at home will maximise their chances of getting work.

Only Gold Members can be put on institutes 'Preferred Lists'.

Priority Order

Institute 1st Priority 2nd Priority 3rd Priority
Agency Preferred List Gold Members Standard Members
Personal Preferred List Gold Members Standard Members
Notification Time >3 minutes 3 minutes 0 minutes

Accepting Vacancies

Only 'Preferred Relief Teachers' can accept vacancies on their mobile phone, they must reply by texting 'Yes' and then press 'Send'. Relief teachers who are successful accepting a vacancy will receive a text message starting 'Success...' as well as a confirmation email showing all the details of the placement . 'Preferred Relief Teachers' who were unsuccessful will receive a text message starting 'Sorry...'. 'Preferred Relief Teachers' who are unavailable to teach should delete the text message. 'Preferred Relief Teachers' who receive several texts simultaneously for work on the same day should reply to all the texts by typing 'Yes', the system will only allow 'Preferred Relief Teachers' to be 'successful' for one of the vacancies. 'Preferred Relief Teachers' can also accept vacancies on the website.

When you accept a vacancy, the contact person at the institute will instantly receive a text message and an email with your name and details. You do not need to contact us or the institute after accepting a vacancy just turn up on time for work.

Rating System

To help you get placed in suitable schools we have our asked our institutes to rate you (Terms & Conditions 4.21) as:

  1. Very Good (Happy Face)
  2. Satisfactory (OK Face)
  3. Unsuitable (Sad Face)

Institutes will not be able to see relief teachers who are rated 'Unsuitable' ie. with a 'Sad Face'. If you are rated 'Unsuitable' by an institute we will discuss matters with you directly. You can not contact Institutes to discuss the ratings they give you (Terms & Conditions 4.21). If you are rated 'unsuitable' you will not be able to see or accept any vacancies at that institute (Terms & Conditions 4.22). Institutes can change their ratings of relief teachers at any time. It is not compulsory for institutes to rate relief teachers.

How to Get More Work with EDForce

  1. Enter the details of the institute(s) that gave you a 'Very Good' reference by visiting the 'Preferred List' or 'Ratings/References' tab in your account and click the link 'References'. Reference Form. To download, click here. These institutes will be shown with a 'Purple Happy Face'. Remember to keep a copy for your own records should an institute ask to see them and email or post a copy to EDForce.
  2. Complete your 'Resume'
  3. Apply for a 'Gold Membership'.
  4. Select the EDForce Institutes you would like to work for from the different regions. You can locate these institutes in the 'Preferred List' tab of your account. Institutes will be more inclined to choose you for their 'Preferred List' when you select their institute.
  5. Ensure your mobile phone and computer is on so that you can hear the 'text messages' and 'ringing sounds' when vacancies become available.
  6. Give the Rating Form to an authorised person at the EDForce Institutes you teach at so you can get rated. To download, click here. Email a copy of your 'Rating' to us so that we can enter it into your account. When an EDForce Institute rates you 'Very Good', it will be shown with a 'Yellow Happy Face'.

Teachers who get 'Ratings' and 'References' will have a greater chance of getting on ‘Preferred Lists’ and getting more work (Terms & Conditions 4.1).

Phone Calls

If an EDForce Institute phones or contacts you in any way without placing the vacancy through EDForce you must email EDForce with the dates you worked for the institute (Terms & Conditions 4.15, 4.17).

Wages and Travel Allowances

You receive your normal wages and travel allowances. Relief teachers who claim high amounts of travel allowances may jeopardise their chances of being added to an institute's 'Preferred List'.

Arriving Late to Work

If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the expected arrival time without phoning the contact person or the institute, the institute has the right to terminate the vacancy (Terms & Conditions 4.17.1).

Can't get to Work

If you have a genuine reason and cannot get to work, you must phone EDForce first. You must not phone the contact person or the institute, we will get another relief teacher to replace you (Terms & Conditions 4.8)

Lesson Planning

Teachers are required to bring sufficient lesson planning to institutes (Terms & Conditions 4.6).

Unavailability

If you become ‘unavailable’ for more than a term, you should select 'Not Available' in your 'Relief Teaching Availability' field box.

How to Promote EDForce to:

Institutes with ‘Personal Memberships’

Speed is the major factor.

EDForce is 15 to 20 times faster than the telephone and there are no:

  1. Engaged signals.
  2. Answer phone messages.
  3. Wasted phone calls because relief teachers couldn't get to the phone in time.
  4. Wasted phone calls because the relief teachers were not home.
  5. Wasted phone calls because relief teachers already have work.

EDForce Relief Teachers can also be contacted instantly at school, the gym, the supermarket, or at their child's sports game etc. Institutes that don't use EDForce are likely to start losing their relief teachers, because the telephone system is too slow. If ten vacancies are placed EDForce can potentially contact up to 200 relief teachers in seconds.

How to Promote EDForce to:

Institutes with ‘Agency Memberships’

Savings is the major factor.

Our fees are approximately 40% cheaper than other agencies.

How it Works

When institutes place 'Part Time, Fixed Term and Permanent Positions' on the website you will receive instant email notifications. You can view those positions under the 'Positions' tab in 'Your Account'.

When you apply for a position your 'References' and 'Resume' will be automatically forwarded to the institute. You must not phone, email or post curriculum vitas to institutes when applying for positions.

Institutes will liaise directly with you regarding interviews.

Employment

If you are successful in getting a ‘Part Time, Fixed Term or Permanent Position’ you must notify us by email with the name of the institute, the type of position and the start date of the position (Terms & Conditions 4.26)

If an institute employs you in either a 'Part Time, Fixed Term and Permanent Position' without placing the position through the website and you have worked at that institute in the last 12 months from the start date of the position institutes will be liable for our fees (Terms & Conditions 1.23, 1.24).
